On Monday, we went out for another hike (what a surprise!). This is called “the wall”. How these big rocks get piled up in the middle of the desert...who knows. Glacial activity? Anyway, another beautiful day.
Never get tired of seeing these saguaro cacti. Got this with the sun behind it.
The desert is great this time of year. Nice and cool overnight, and such beautiful temperatures during the day.
This is a shot of the “street” we are on in the RV Resort. The people here have been amazing.
On Tuesday night, we went to a Holey Hole (or Holey Board, or Washer Game) tournament that our neighbours had invited us to go to. It was great fun. We didn’t win, but we’re virtually beginners. We have played it before, but not much.
On Wednesday, they have a monthly late afternoon lunch and entertainment thing put on by the resort. It’s under the guise of a sales pitch by the resort to sell park models and the like, but I think they might have mentioned it once or twice and that was it, so definitely no pressure, and it was just good fun to get together with people and chat.
Of course, some line dancing broke out. How about this dude line dancing. Never thought I’d see it!
On Thursday, we went out to Bulldog Canyon for a hike in the wilderness. It felt like it too. There was no one else around (that we saw) and once we got behind the hills/mountains, you’d think we were back in the “old west”.
This is of a wash - which is where all the water flows out of the mountains. You sure wouldn’t want to be caught in one of these in a rainstorm...especially this one. That’s solid rock down there. We were about 20 feet above it here, but it becomes quite a canyon further up.
Yesterday, Gerard did some cleaning of the awning, while I went out for a bit of a hike nearby. Just me and the cattle. And this bird was watching for little lizards, or whatever else crawls around in the desert.
And here we are enjoying the pool area. Those people are all lined up at the tiki bar. It just opened :J
Today we’re heading off to Scottsdale to see Frank and John. Adios.
Pretty good life, eh? Have you been watching the Olympics on your trip?
ReplyDeleteA bit. Not as much as we would be if we were at home as we’ve been out and about and visiting with people.
